Probably the best way to visit Paris is to wander along the Quais de la Seine. I invite you to a nice trip down the Seine from Pont de Tolbiac to Pont de Bir Hakeim. By flowing down, you will get a nice view from most of important monuments. All these paintings were made on location.
Paris history begins with Seine. Nautae Parisiaci were a powerful guild of boatmen in Lutetia. In 1711, the remains of a monument vowed to Jupiter were found under the heart of the Cathedral, erected by the Nautes under Tiberius (14-37 AD). On the stones were engraved both Roman and Galic divinities.
Today the guild of boatmen is less powerful, due to the number of bridges crossing the Seine river...
